Santa, Trilly the Christmas Tree, Rooby the Reindeer & Mrs Claus

It’s always the children that provide the review for a pre-schoolers’ production and the littlies seem to be attentive and having fun with songs, characters and story during The Christmas Show.

The show features a simple story about Santa losing his memory and his on-stage friends and audience helping him regain his memory by providing him with Christmas Cheer.

Before the story starts, a perky, engaging girl in a Christmas outfit engages the audience, tells the children about the characters and teaches them dance moves.

Then we are introduced to Santa’s friends: Flukie the Elf, his friend, Pixie (who has a freaky, scary face that the kids didn't seem to notice), Trilly the Christmas Tree , Star, Rooby the Reindeer and Puddles the Penguin.

The 3 and 4 year olds were delighted with the outsized characters and audience participation that included, cheering, saying hello, dancing and singing along with Chrissie tunes such as Jingle Bells and Rooby the Red-Nosed Reindeer.

Santa’s friends wear over-sized character suits and all dialogue and songs are recorded because they cannot speak through their giant, character heads.

The characters being unable to speak directly to us causes some slow cueing for songs and scenes but the children are forgiving.

There is much celebration and singing when Santa finally remembers what he must do to prepare for Christmas and the children all go home happy.
